Out of the Office Chronicles

Out of the office again.

Only now with new problems. I recently had an accident chopping green peppers for sunday breakfast. Now I don't have the pad on the right ring finger and instead i have a home made bandage covering it. Typing in a large bandage on one finger is pretty hard but I guess I can make it through.

Sunday I was creating a tasty breakfast before the incident that has left me impaired. The plan was to thinly slice the potatoes, onions, and green peppers making some home-fries. When the home-fries cooked I planed on making fried eggs to go on the hard roll I purchased for the occasion. The eggs where going to have just enough runny yoke so when a bite was taken it would dribble out and land on the plate to be slopped up with my home-fries.

This is a lot of description for just a sunday breakfast but I had been waiting to make this for at least a week. I have been going out with my girlfriend for breakfast the last couple weekends because I forget to buy breakfast materials during my usual shopping. But not this weekend, I had a plan, and I was excited to sleep in and have a diner breakfast in my own kitchen. But the green peppers ruined it. Instead of cuddling on the couch watching sunday tv with our bellies full of breakfast I spent sunday morning on the floor of my bathroom.

The potatoes got cut, and where in the pan. Next was the onions. Then on the last slice of the green pepper shooting pain fired up my finger, through my arm, and up to my head. the flush of pain quickly subsided, and the blood was all I could see in the sink. I grabbed my finger with my other hand and as calmly as i could I hustled to the bathroom. The blood pumped and the pressure of my squeezing the finger was not stopping the rush of red. I put my hand over the bathroom sink let go with the still able hand and blood flowed. Everything drained out of me with the sight of the blood, my muscles became weak. As fast as I could I laid down on the ground with my hand extended upwards over the sink.

Passing out with the sight of my own blood is common, so laying on the ground I had to calm down to create a plan of action. Deep breathes, and soon I could feel myself again. Enough that I thought I could fix my finger from bleeding. Once the clarity came back from the initial flush of blood I could take back over. Getting a bandage on wasn't perfect, but eventually it worked.

I came out of the bathroom about a half hour later fully bandaged and ready to restart the day. The home-fries didn't come out how I wanted them (obviously the green peppers never make it in them) and my girlfriend had to make the egg sandwiches I planned on making for her. I was disappointed in the morning.

There are plenty more Sunday mornings left for breakfast and i will try to be more careful cutting in the future. I guess if nothing happened and I just enjoyed the breakfast I wouldn't have anything to write about now.
