Happy Halloween

I like Halloween.

I like a time of year that people can go out and pretend they are some one else. Of course, on a regular weekend I have been know to drink enough so I don't know who myself is.

The end of the year is soon now. Once Halloween is over then November gets cold (well it used to, before Al Gore {a quick point about Al Gore, have you seen Forest Gump lately? Forest Gump speaks the exact same way as Al Gore, i used this as a joke when i was watching it the other day, but as the movie moved on I could not shake the resemblance.}) November flies because of Thanksgiving, the week of Thanksgiving makes the month end so quickly and before you realize it, Christmas, boom, New Years, then 2008.

The Winter for me isn't the best time and i think on a whole people mostly try to just get it over with. I know people like Christmas, even look forward to it, but the fact that you have to suffer through cold temperatures, snowy driving, shoveling, jackets, gloves, the muddy slush 2 days after the snow storm, higher bills, cancellations, and day light savings makes the winter just a pain.

It is obvious i live in New England, I suppose i could live somewhere it is nice all year round but i think the summer anywhere has a happier feeling to it. I work all year anyway so it isn't like I look forward to a summer vacation but i do look forward to getting out of work and the sun is still up.

Anyway, enjoy your Halloween and i will get through mine (I have no plans other than playing Basketball with my friends Dad) and I will be back to normal in about 5 months...

And I Apologize

My clarity comes from my hang-over.

A tag line that is one of my favorites on the instant messenger. A fun weekend, but the Monday clarity seems to always press on my soul. Regret is my biggest problem followed closely by my own personality.

Haircut Success

New haircut a success

Len's Barber Shop

Len's barber shot was very nice and professional...

I found a place to cut my hair!

Just Plain Sad

Sad top of the head shot

An Adventure Concerning a Haircut

I have a lot of hair. I used to have more of it on my head but as my youth seems to slip away so does my forehead seem to grow. My family isn't blessed with long locks of hair and we lose it in the front as well as the back. I understand that, at this point I see it happening.

Growing my hair out when i was younger was a lot of fun. The youthful bliss of long hair and a crazy attitude just worked well. Now if my hair grows too long it clogs the shower drain, it look thin, and most importantly I look like a creepy guy trying to keep my youth. I try not to let it grow too long anymore.

I knew 3 weeks ago i needed a haircut but it hasn't happened yet. i tried 5 different places but apparently getting a haircut isn't as easy as i thought. i am a male and need to get a 15 minute haircut, most places are reasonable and cost 15-20 dollars. One of the places i tried said 38 dollars (the one place I could get an appointment at a reasonable time), I canceled the appointment immediately. i am going to a town barber shop after posting this to try another place i will let you know the results...

Interesting Offer

I was at work yesterday doing as I usually do (check internet pages 300times and then play some spider solitaire while making fun of the people I see) when our cleaning lady came in (lovingly I nicknamed her shakes). She took out the garbage as usual and wanted to ask me something. This did not surprise me because I see her every day and she always has some story to tell that secretly i could care less about, but she is nice enough.

First she tells me she hopes she isn't imposing but a nurse wanted to know if i was single. "It wasn't for the nurse" she said, "it was for the nurse's beautiful daughter, who she (the nurse) thought we would make a good match." Obviously I laughed and told shakes that I was single but don't really date much.

That was the end of the conversation and after she was out of the office I started to think to myself. What could the nurse have thought sending in a cleaning lady as an intermediary in her romance scheme? Did she expect me to be excited about being set up by some one I do not know by someone who takes out my garbage daily?
Well it is a small hospital but the cleaning lady, come on, just come up yourself.

Beyond the obvious, how do you tell people who only know you by work standards that you are a douche bag (see above picture)? Looking back on any type of relationship i have had, even though my intentions may have been good, they always end with me doing something douche baggy. Although I know this, i cannot reply to a honest offer, "I would love to be set up for a blind date but i am kind of an ass and usually make things uncomfortable for the girl. If you add that disclaimer to the offer of a blind date than I am in." At work I am a nice guy, always in a tie, clean shaved, polite, and soft spoken. After work or lately in a social setting I am a drunken belligerent ass. Those are two extremes that I don't think should ever collide into each other.

A New Post

As i was driving home from working a Volleyball match last night i was thinking about how things have changed without me really noticing. If i looked back, only 2 years, things where much different.

2 years ago brings us to the fall of 2005. I was living on an off campus apartment with AJ and Katie. I was driving my crappy ford Taurus and still going to UConn, I was in a continuously failing relationship and drinking at any point that i could. This was not my brightest time, barely surviving working at Recreational Services for about 10-15 hours a week and never going to class.

As that semester moved through, into 2006 i failed out of college, I moved back home and had to replace all sorts of parts of my car. I continued to drink more at home, with nothing else to do. My relationship ended as summer came and i took over the Summer Rec program. Those five weeks were as much fun as i could have had at that point in my life, and soon after i began my job with my brother.

I started as a 2 day a week employee, but soon became 3. I was working part time but still living at home, and driving a car soon to fall apart completely. From this point to now it all becomes a blur. I am now full time, I have a new car (that is exactly what i wanted), i have a new computer and at the end of the month i will be moving into my condo. Just recently I spoke with my old relationship and realized that she knows nothing about me. We had not spoke for about 6 months and the conversation was just bland.

It is a new time... and I had not noticed it coming but it is here.

Blog Action Day

Today, October 15th 2007, is blog action day. What does that mean, that means a huge amount of people will be writing about a common issue today. The issue that is being discussed today is THE ENVIRONMENT.

I have checked out a couple blogs and read about global warming, overpopulation, and individual responsibility. Through all this reading I was informed on all sorts of things to help the environment and to be aware of, I am not being specific because, well, I don't exactly remember the specifics. But the major part was things are bad in our environment and we should try to fix that.

Well I am going to do my part on Blog Action Day to inform and encourage people (usually a very small number of people) to do better things for the environment.

STOP THROWING JUNK OUT YOUR WINDOW OF YOUR CAR. I understand, you need to eat in your car because of time restraints and because eating in your car is quick and easy. After you eat your road treat you are left with the unpleasant soggy, greasy, smelly wrapper. You don't want to just have that hanging around in your car. Chances are if this disgusting thing hits the floor on your car it will stay, infecting everything in your car, for days. You don't want that to happen and with a flip of your finger you can open up a way never to see it again.

Just don't do it, I know in your mind a second before releasing your garbage out into the open wild your brain must think "maybe I shouldn't do this". Go with that instinct. Garbage on the side of the road isn't good for anything, animals can get into it, it will take forever to decompose, it looks bad. I think that can help the environment, or at least keep it the same way that it already is.

Keep a bag in your car for garbage and dump it at your next gas station. It isn't that difficult and you won't have to worry about getting some crazy fine from the police.

That is my post for the environment, check out more @ http://blogactionday.org/

Thursday Excitement

I Love Thursdays, in fact it may well be my favorite day. Let me break my love for Thursday down for you:

1. It is thursday and the week is practically over.
2. For me, Thursday is the most productive day of the week because i want to finish everything before friday
3. Plans for the weekend always take place on Thursday
4. My Favorite TV shows are on Thursday.

The last reason may be a little silly but Thursday night is the night for good TV. You get through a long week of work, Thursday work is all over and Friday never seems that hard. You hit the couch and watch some entertaining television (usually with a delicious beer)

The line up on Thursday is perfect. First is My Name is Earl, I think it is a funny show that if I miss I don't really mind. This is the show that is on while dinner is being prepared or if i am coming home a little later from the gym I'll catch the end and that is fine. It is entertaining but not that captivating for me.

Next is 30 Rock which I think is hilarious. Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan with a side of Alex Baldwin is such a great combination. The episodes are great and in there second season they have been bringing in some funny guests.

The Office is my favorite show on TV right now. I watched the original British version and thought it was perfect, the amount of acquired funny moments were just great. When I saw that they redid The Office for the US I was not happy with the idea, I stayed away from it for a year but eventually caught a couple and was entertained. It just continues to grow, although it started the same as the British Office it has turned to a more relaxed style comedy with the same foundation of Jim and Pam.

Scrubs is also on on this night and i do enjoy it but not as much as I used to. The last season became a little too predictable and now that all the beginners are strong respected doctors, it doesn't seem as fun. Last season was suppose to be the last season but they stretched it out to this season, I am glad it is ending but i will still be sad it is finished.

I do understand that this post was about TV shows I enjoy but right now that is what i am looking forward to. I will be happy to sit on the couch and watch them tonight.

A gloomy coat day

Rain

Strange how rainy days make you feel worse. I go to the gym a lot now a days but usually don't feel all that sore. Today was a rainy day and i feel awful. I am headed back to the gym in a couple minutes but my back is killing me.

At least there is Advil.

The Internet and My Time

Sure the Internet was created to connect researchers so they can communicate faster. All in the name of science and progress. Here we are today, the world wide web of wasting my time. This is not a bad thing... what else would people do while they kill time in an office, or an adolescent would have to steal porn, lets think back to before the Internet. A time I call FB.

People must have talked more when there wasn't a global community waiting to see what someone dumb is going to write next. Newspapers must have ruled a local area's world. If you wanted to know something (movie times, personals, and weather) all you had to do was go get the paper and you are set, everything you think you would need to know is right there on the paper. Anything you needed to know during the FB era you could turn on the radio or TV and wait to hear the specifics of a certain story. It sounds like the dark ages.

I am going to go through my web page history today to see what i have been up to...
7:30 Gmail/weather.com
9:30 Google finance/ people's bank/ facebook/myspace/ Gmail/ blockbuster/ PAVO-CT/ Blogger/ Slashdot
9:40 There are many news sources here that I looked at about the news i saw either in Slashdot or my personalized iGoogle page. Most are from the New York Times this morning.
12:00 Weather.com/ PAVO-CT
2:00 thepiratebay/ jawbone.com/ jott.com/ blogger
3:00 Google/ Blogger/ Jott/ Myspace/ Gmail/ OT/ maps.Google

and that pretty much brings us to the present. All that time I could have used for some useful things (i did get all my work done today so i am not too sure what). Instead I read some stories i thought where interesting and checked how my efriends are.

When was the last time someone used a letter for actual correspondence. What would you do if you didn't have a computer on your desk, talk to coworkers? Be forced to interact? I suppose you would have to factor in all that time to use paper for things and file things but what a terrible world.

I enjoy killing time, especially not having to have boring chatter, I would rather just read a good web page.

A Friend's Travels

My Ex-Apartment mate is now in Japan. (one of his pictures on the right)

He is over there teaching the children how to speak fluent English.

I am going to go ahead and skip over the "American Educational System will destroy this country" rant, and go straight to how my buddy Ross is one of the coolest people I know.

I cannot remember how many times I have said that i wanted to travel, i have said it before going into college, during college, and after college i have said repeatedly that I will go check out the world. In fact, I think that the older I get the more i get more realistic about my travels.

Before college i wanted to travel around the world, see everything. College I narrowed down my travels to Asia, Europe, Australia, and Russia. Now I find myself narrowing it down even more to English speaking countries only (pure laziness). Mostly I have been thinking recently that if i go to Europe that will count as my world travel. That is such a shame.

Obviously there are plenty of other things that I have said I will do, that I never did, but at this point I think travel is most prominent. I have been to about 5 cities in the US and a couple islands south of Florida. This is just disappointing.

I am not going to be changed now that i wrote this for the anonymous internet. I am not going to say that I will now travel. I am not even going to say that I will try to follow through on what I say. I think that in no way will I try to better myself because I wrote a blog entry.

What is my conclusion? Simple, Ross is cool. He has lived in Austria, he has been living in Hartford, and now he is living in Japan. Where he has lived is not the reason why he is cool but a circumstance of his coolness and I tip my hat off to him.

Here is a little ditty to prove my point

Coming off of the iMac weekend high

All weekend i played with my computer, and I am so excited about it.

But, it is Monday all over again, back to work.

October is here, that means colder days, longer nights, and Halloween. Excitement? maybe... Honestly i am looking forward to the end of October for much more than Halloween. November 1st i am officially a home-owner, and will begin the move in process.

I don't like to rush time, I try to just ride along and enjoy but November is pretty far away.
