The Internet and My Time

Sure the Internet was created to connect researchers so they can communicate faster. All in the name of science and progress. Here we are today, the world wide web of wasting my time. This is not a bad thing... what else would people do while they kill time in an office, or an adolescent would have to steal porn, lets think back to before the Internet. A time I call FB.

People must have talked more when there wasn't a global community waiting to see what someone dumb is going to write next. Newspapers must have ruled a local area's world. If you wanted to know something (movie times, personals, and weather) all you had to do was go get the paper and you are set, everything you think you would need to know is right there on the paper. Anything you needed to know during the FB era you could turn on the radio or TV and wait to hear the specifics of a certain story. It sounds like the dark ages.

I am going to go through my web page history today to see what i have been up to...
7:30 Gmail/weather.com
9:30 Google finance/ people's bank/ facebook/myspace/ Gmail/ blockbuster/ PAVO-CT/ Blogger/ Slashdot
9:40 There are many news sources here that I looked at about the news i saw either in Slashdot or my personalized iGoogle page. Most are from the New York Times this morning.
12:00 Weather.com/ PAVO-CT
2:00 thepiratebay/ jawbone.com/ jott.com/ blogger
3:00 Google/ Blogger/ Jott/ Myspace/ Gmail/ OT/ maps.Google

and that pretty much brings us to the present. All that time I could have used for some useful things (i did get all my work done today so i am not too sure what). Instead I read some stories i thought where interesting and checked how my efriends are.

When was the last time someone used a letter for actual correspondence. What would you do if you didn't have a computer on your desk, talk to coworkers? Be forced to interact? I suppose you would have to factor in all that time to use paper for things and file things but what a terrible world.

I enjoy killing time, especially not having to have boring chatter, I would rather just read a good web page.
