I am sure Firefox doesn't need my help spreading this excellent browser but I thought it was a neat icon, plus you can take part in a Guinness Book of World Records event.

Movie Marathon

It is strange that when summer comes and the sun is out for such a long time I think of some great movies i like to watch.

So the other day I decided to make a list.  A list of my favorite summer movies.  Let me be clear by what I mean by this list.  These are the best movies for the summer, NOT blockbuster summer movies (which usually suck).  Now to the List:

10. What About Bob:  A classic summer trip movie and Bill Murray is in a lot of this list.

9. The Endless Summer:  The Surfing movie that when you put it on you never really have to watch, I don't even surf but the idea of going around the world and goofing off at beaches appeals to me.

8. National Lampoon's Vacation:  Come on... come on... Classic

7. Field of Dreams:  Summer and baseball, freshly cut grass, Kevin Costner.  Good stuff, too bad the games at Fenway are always packed.

6. Almost Famous:  I think the kid going around with a Rockband is pretty cool, but if I was to be a part of the movie I wouldn't be the kid, I would be in the band.

5. Jurassic Park:  A little scary, lots of dinosaurs, and Jeff Goldblum... win, win, and win

4. Jaws:  If you are going for a swim with your friends on a summer night it won't be long until someone does the Jaws theme, it just has to happen.

3. Meatballs: 70's summer camp at it's finest.  Drinking, hooking up, and fighting against other camps, I don't think I would want to go anywhere else during the summer.

2. Caddy Shack: This movie will never get old.  It almost makes me want to play golf... almost

1. Wet Hot American Summer:  I hate to have the spoiler up as the picture but this movie is the best summer movie you could ever watch.  Hilarious and strange all in one, in all of my camp experience I always tried to get things to work out closer to this movie.

Cell Connect

The return of the phone.

A week ago I had an issue with my phone, I broke it.  Well to be fair a good many people had a part in the breaking of my cell.  In our defense the phone did say indestructible so why wouldn't everyone in a bar test it?

The next day I get my phone it turns on, acts crazy, I turn it off and it is dead forever.  RIP

Well, I call the phone insurance, the new replacement is on backorder but thanks for calling.

Now I am in a position without a phone, without the constant connection to Family, Friends, Co-Workers, and other people who may mistakenly call me.  I am alone, finally.

I never really use the phone that much when I had it.  A quick hey where when and how are we doing what we are doing.  No long conversations and most of the time the phone was in my bag not on my hip.  I never have been truly dependent on the silly little phone in peoples pocket, but now that I didn't have mine with me, that would be when I start getting my important calls.

After a week without the phone I check my messages with a different phone.  NOTHING.  I am borrowing a phone now still waiting for the new one and I notice now more than ever, no one calls me.  This isn't a bad thing just something I didn't notice.

But there was a weekend where I didn't post a drinking pic here, I guess that was the only difference with me having a phone or not.

Consumerism Laughs

I while back I but on a advertisement on this site.  I know there are not that many readers and the readers that do come are not looking to click on an ad.

But I saw the possibilities of this, not the making money part but another ingrained part of the ad system.  The ad that you see on the right is generated by scanning through my posts and is suppose to be relative to what is in this blog.  So if I am writing about shoes it would be a shoe ad or whatever.

Lately this has become my favorite part of this blog, to see what advertisers think I like and would buy.

The majority is about alcohol but since my phone automatically sends all the verizon junk on the bottom (which I try to edit out quickly) all the ads have been for verizon.

I am hoping that at some point I can write about really strange things just to see what odd ads I can get to show up, but more likely they will be for alcohol.

Hate to Love

I got back from the gym today, made dinner and saw that it was 7:30.  Too early to go to bed but too late to start any big projects.

I thought to myself, "Self you know what you haven't done in a while that would be fun to check out?  The Fantasy."

So I started the log on process.  The PS2 was hooked up to the internet and everything was a go.  I turn on, select Final Fantasy XI and of course a new Play Online version update(for those who haven't played a MMORPG this is common every month) I hit the update button and 1.3 hours remaining pops up and I smile to myself because it is already like old times.  I switch inputs and play some Wii.

About an hour and a half later I switch back to FFXI and it is restart time.  We restart and I have to go through the entire user agreement before i can hit ok.  scroll, scroll, scroll...  OK.

I log on, get to the actual FFXI log on screen and my network settings aren't properly configured [auto detect] then [restart].  this puts us back to the beginning all over again.

The restart is complete and the log on works this time.  I get to choose my little character Cienbrun and off I go into the world of Vana'diel.

I appear, in the middle of Yuhtungar Jungle with no way home, surrounded my goblins.

It's so nice to be back...
